1 How LESCO Bill Due Dates Work

On every official LESCO bill, two distinct payment figures are printed at the bottom right corner:

Amount Payable Within Due Date

Net Electricity Charges + Taxes

Valid until bank closing hours or 11:59 PM online on the specified date.

Amount Payable After Due Date

Net Charges + L.P. Surcharge

Applied automatically if payment is posted even 1 minute after midnight.

Note: If the due date falls on a Sunday or gazetted government holiday, commercial banks and post offices typically accept payment without surcharge on the immediately following working day.

2 How Late Payment Surcharge (L.P. Surcharge) is Calculated

Under NEPRA consumer service manual rules, the late payment surcharge is calculated as:

Late Surcharge = 10% of Variable Energy Charges (Excluding Taxes & Fixed Duties)

For example, if your net variable energy bill is Rs. 15,000, your late payment surcharge will add approximately Rs. 1,500. Consistently accumulating surcharges can push a consumer's arrears into severe recovery action.

Open JazzCash or Easypaisa, go to Bill Payments → Electricity → LESCO, enter your 14-digit reference number, and tick "Save this bill". As soon as the new billing file is updated on PITC, the app sends you a push notification alert.

Most modern Pakistani banks (HBL Mobile, Meezan Community, Alfalah, Bank of Punjab) allow scheduling automatic bill debits on your account 2 days prior to the due date, ensuring zero late fees.

4 How to Request a Due Date Extension or Bill Installment

If you received an unexpectedly high bill and cannot pay in full before the due date, you have legal rights to request relief before disconnection:

Up to Rs. 25,000: Your local Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) has delegated authority to extend the due date by 3 working days or create 2–3 monthly installments.
Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 100,000: The Executive Engineer (XEN) can grant an extension of up to 5 working days or authorize up to 3–4 installments.
Above Rs. 100,000: The Superintending Engineer (SE) or Chief Commercial Officer has authority for up to 6 monthly installments.
